One of the infrastructural projects planned on the completion of the Government Law College’s 150th Year in 2005, was an Electronic Research Room (ERR). The ERR was envisaged as a state-of-the-art facility which would provide students and professors of the College access to the internet and various legal research databases.

              

The ERR conceptualized and completed by our Prof Ms. Sunita Masani; was recently inaugurated on 17 January 2006 by the Hon’ble Mr. Justice V.M. Kanade of the Bombay High Court. The funds required to execute the project, were obtained entirely from sponsors donations. Some of the photos in respect of the ERR are available for viewing on the College website: www.glc.edu.

The ERR accommodates 8 flat monitored computers, capable of being expanded to it's full capacity of 15 computers, on receipt of additional funds. The ERR has subscribed to Manupatra and Legal Pundits, two online legal databases and we hope to add SCC Online and Lexis Nexis.

              

One computer has been reserved for use without charges, to those students who will represent the Government Law College in competions. Printing facilities have been provided at a highly subsidized rate.

While we have been able to complete the setting up of the ERR with the available funds, we are in the process of gathering further funds inter alia to form a corpus to ensure that the maintenance and day-to-day costs of the ERR are provided for in the future.
Donations above Rs.75,000/= (Rupees Seventy five Thousand only), will find a mention on a glass plaque to be placed in the ERR. Contributions by a crossed cheque favoring ‘Government Law College Alumni Association, Mumbai’, are eligible for relief under Sec 80-G of the income-Tax Act, 1961. Such contribution may be accompanied with a covering note mentioning the ELECTRONIC RESEARCH CENTER AND COMPUTER ROOM PROJECT along with the name
