The Lotus symbolises knowledge, wealth, divinity and  enlightenment. Lending to its uniqueness, the flower grows in murky waters and rises on a long stalk above the surface to bloom glorious. It is also therefore, a symbol of triumph. It represents long life, honour, and good fortune. The pink lotus is the National Flower of India. The white lotus is associated with the Absolute Truth and the experience of the Highest Reality.

The sun represents unity, warmth, and spread of knowledge. It symbolizes the circle of life, beginnings and ends. It represents energy and excellence. Along with purity of purpose, the sun also represents a centre or steadfastness. It has been symbolized over the years, from being considered as a pagan god, to a symbol for gold in alchemy. The sun is also considered to symbolize 'all is one and one is all'.

The symbol of the moot is a harmonious amalgamation of the lotus and the sun. It's mixture of ancient symbolism with modern interpretation represent the college, which although 150 years old is still innovative, progressive and relevant today.
